Therapy is expensive. I am sure that everyone, when they first consider therapy, looks at the cost and says “wow, that is a lot”. And it is. But I want you to consider the other things you spend money on in the quest to feel happier. How much money are you spending and is it really working? Many people spend a lot of money on things intended to make them feel better that in the end don’t really help. That week on the beach feels good in the moment but the stress piles in again the moment you get off the plane. The boost from buying shoes, or gadgets, or a bigger TV only lasts a few hours. Drugs and alcohol cost more than therapy and in the end make everything worse. Staring at your phone for hours just gives you insomnia. Maybe it is time to put some time and money into something that will actually make you feel better. Therapy can help you resolve you past trauma, come to terms with your life, reduce your stress, and actually feel happy. So maybe the question is not “is therapy worth the money?” but “is happiness worth the money?”
